Tashirojima is a small fishing island off the coast of Sendai—only 1.2 square miles in area,and it is inhabited by an extraordinary number of cats.

田代島是個在仙台外海的小漁島,只有1.2平方公里，還有這裡住著非常多的貓。
This isn’t the only cat island in Japan,there’s another cat island called Aoshima in Ehime Prefecture,this however, is the main cat island.
It’s got a cat shrine,
cat museum, cat toys, cat figures, cat food, cat houses, cat bus,and finally crazy cat people.
這並不是日本唯一的貓島，另位一座貓島是在愛媛縣的青島，不過,這才是最主要的貓島，這裡有貓神社、貓博物館、貓玩具、貓玩偶、貓食、貓屋、貓公車，還有一些超愛貓的人。
Cat island takes a 600 yen (about 780$), 50 minute ferry ride to get to,the ferry only runs a couple of times per day,
which means if you miss it or it gets canceled, you get stuck on cat island.
搭渡輪到貓島要2600日幣(約台幣780$)，大約50分鐘的時間，渡輪一天只有幾班而已，換句話說,錯過或是剛好遇到停駛,就只能被困在貓島了。
In theory it’s basically a cat person’s paradise,cat island was never meant to be a tourist destination,the cats were originally introduced to keep down mice populations, and both superstition and a fondness for the cats led to an explosion intheir population.
理論上，這真的是愛貓人的天堂，貓島原本不是觀光勝地，這些貓原本是養來抓老鼠的，最後,因為當地人對貓的迷信與喜愛,導致貓數量大量成長。
More than 100 stray cats now live on this island, and while some small measures have been taken to provide for tourism,
it quite empty.
這島上有超過100隻的流浪貓，上還有些區域是觀光用途，不過真的很空。
The population has halved in the last 20 years,now there are only 85 residents, 70 of which are elderly,the island’s village is actually classified as terminal,which meas it’s on the verge of disappearing completely,the economy isn't exactly booming.
在近20年,島上人口少了一半，現在只有85人,有70人是老年人，這島上的村落被分類到"晚期"，意思是 已經在消失邊緣了，經濟也不怎麼發達。
Cat Island is less like a fantastical Japan wonderland from your dreams,it’s just a place, with real world problems,the cats are strays, which means beyond being fed by villagers and visitors,
they don’t be getting much care,a large portion of the cats we saw were sick or injured.
貓島其實不太是你所幻想的日本歡樂島，這地方也是有一些缺點，這些貓都是流浪貓,不是被村民飼養的，牠們沒有得到太多照顧，蠻大一部分的貓似乎生病或受傷。
